Today, February 26, Josh Dawsey and Nick Miroff published an article regarding President Trump and the new border wall prospects. Next month President Trump is planning to visit California in order to see some border wall options. Many attempts to visit the Golden State in the past have failed due to the president’s need to sleep in his own bed as well as the possibility of riots due to his new immigration tactics. This is caused by the steep hatred of Trump from many Californians, as well as Trump’s own disposition regarding the state. Trump has repeatedly criticized Californian officials and threatened to pull out ICE officers. Although, if Trump decided to finally make his visit, he will be greeted with eight 30-foot tall prototypes of the wall ranging from steel to concrete makeup. Recently Trump has declared that a wall is not the only solution, but a fence could work, too. The only problem is that he worries border agents could be hurt by hurling bags of drugs. Yes, sacks of drugs… Throughout the article the authors lace each sentence with sarcasm as I just demonstrated, showing a great disrespect towards Trump as well as a comfortability towards their audience, assuming that the audience has the same political views(liberal/Democratic). To appeal to these liberalistic views the authors inform all views, but with a hint of swinging left. The main purpose overall is to tell people what our President is doing, when, where, why, and the imposing consequences of his actions as many civilians under his rule would like to know. Overall I do agree with what the authors entail-that Trump is quite the unfit and lacks logic-but I think that the wall idea is a relatively good one..if you got a few middle schoolers to sit in a circle and figure out immigration.

In an article posted on January 22, 2018, reporter Emily Rauhala covered the recent controversy of U.S. ships taking a larger presence in the South China Sea with impeccable terrible timing. The greater presence of U.S. ships in the South China Sea correlates to the greater presence of Chinese ships in the South China Sea Beijing officials warned on January 15th after the USS Hopper sailed within 12 miles of a reef China seized in 2012. According to officials, a U.S. ship lurking so close to shore is provoking trouble. According to the United States representatives, the ship was performing a routine operation, but the timing and location are extremely significant to the Chinese. The voyage took place on the day before the release of the National Defense Strategy- a document full of warning about China. Over the following weekend, the Chinese Foreign Ministry claimed Beijing was far from satisfied with the Hopper’s trip and China is willing to take the needed precautions to safeguard its sovereignty. If the U.S. were to again make trouble out of nothing, then China will protect the peace in the South China Sea and speed up the building and presence there. According to one expert, the timing of the Hopper’s trip seemed planned to show China that the U.S. is ready for a different course of action. Those who would need to find this information valuable would include sailors, international business owners, and international business commerce workers, as well as other countries other than the U.S. due to the rising threat of Chinese-U.S. relations being stressed

Net Neutrality has only existed for 2 years. It was passed by the Obama administration in 2015. So repealing it won’t be the end of the internet as we know it. We would simply be going back to the regulations that the internet had 3 years ago. Every website won't have a separate charge to use it. TWITTER WILL NOT BE $14.99 A MONTH. GOOGLE WILL NEVER CHARGE $1.99 PER SEARCH. You wouldn't be paying more money to use certain apps, certain apps would be paying more money for using so much of the world's data. Corporations are not using this as an opportunity to censor the information you receive. Our internet use is already being censored. If you tweet something out of regulations or use a certain song on a video, your account will be suspended. Corporations don’t necessarily care much about censoring content, they care about money and net neutrality helps them get more money. Ok so now that we know what Net Neutrality IS NOT let's talk about what IT IS. Here are some Facts:

In 2017, Madagascar is going through one of the worst plagues in history. Over 100 people have died from the plague, and over a thousand have fallen ill. Compared to last years 63 deaths out of 275 cases, that’s a lot more than expected. Experts say the plague can be spread rapidly through coughing and can kill the infected in less than one day—but why is it spreading so rapidly this year? Experts don’t quite know, but they do know the pneumonic plague originated form an untreated case of bubonic plague, or Black Death, back in August of this year by a 31 year old native who took a trip inland to the capital. Whilst in the capital, said man developed symptoms similar to malaria and died in a taxi. Many cases could be directly linked to this because of the death in a taxi, where many people sit in for a period of time. Nonetheless, that one case could not have started the plague, but helped skyrocket it. In response to the outbreak, Madagascar has closed official government buildings, universities, and shut down festivals and public gatherings in order to disinfect buildings by spraying insecticides on them and prevent the plague from spreading. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2017/10/05/black-death-outbreak-strikes-madagascar-killing-30-and-triggering-panic/?tid=a_inl&utm_term=.7a187b5a4c86

The Rohingya are a Muslim minority group who have existed in western Burma/Myanmar for many years. Currently the Rohingya are being targeted by certain extremists groups/individuals who are brutally murdering and mass murdering innocent Rohingya people. More than 400,000 have fled Burma by boat to get to Bangladesh. UNICEF estimates that around 240,000 of these refugees are children. Aung San Suu Kyi, the current political leader of myanmar, where the violence against Rohingya is most prevalent, and the awardee of the Nobel Peace Prize has yet to condemn the issue, let alone try to solve it. The Myanmar government displays apparent anti-Rohingya tendencies and allows the violence against them to go unchecked. The UN Human Rights Council has repeatedly recorded concerns about “human rights violations including arbitrary detention, forced displacement, land confiscations, rape and other forms of sexual violence, torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, as well as violations and humanitarian law”. The U.S. Holocaust Museum has described as “early warning signs of genocide”. Mass burning of over 100 Muslims, including women and children Although, many Buddhist Burmese view the issue as a fight against radical islamic terrorists rather than an "ethnic cleansing". This is mostly due to the attack by ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) on 30 Burmese police and army posts on August 25th, 2017. The attack killed 12 officers and may have led many Burmese to buy into the idea that all Rohingya are extremists who deserve government and civilian force. Teen muslim being burned alive in a protest against the Government. The state of Myanmar is experiencing a type of genocide; an ethnic cleansing. The Rohingya people are being specifically targeted by the Buddhist majority with the government of Myanmar complicit, possibly even supportive of the acts. This is causing division within the region which could mean complete loss of control over many areas of Myanmar. That poses a serious threat of war for the region, which would have major international implications. This conflict affects the state of Myanmar itself, the oil and trade the nation is involved with, and the displaced Muslim population fleeing into surrounding nations. 12 Burmese Muslims caught by Bangladeshi police after fleeing from Burma. The Bangladeshi police will proceed to execute all 12 men. |
